Euro 2012 – It´s Only Football [infographic]
So, the Euro 2012 has finally kicked off. Are you ready for it? I know not everyone enjoys 
football. I do, but I also think that I enjoy the atmosphere almost as much as the actual game.
People getting together to share the frustration of a missed opportunity, the subsequent trials and, finally, the goal that makes your team win. Isn´t that great? Now, some would argue that it is the party feeling that I enjoy, and not the footy. Ah, well… Maybe. The thing is that I follow it a lot less than I follow music. Still, It´s only football, but I like it.
In London, the experience of living these football competitions has been a little different so far. I reckon many of us have used them to join in with other people from our own countries to try and feel a bit closer to home. Being on the verge of having a heart attack surrounded by many others in the same situation is kinda comforting, I´d say.
I don´t know how football fans in other countries outside Europe see this Euro 2012. They probably do not really care very much about the traditions of the old Europe. An international competition currently being played under great economic worries and in a great risk that racist, violent fans cause problems. So far, there has not been too much trouble. Fingers crossed!

You would be surprised how excited the fans get in Toronto. There are all kinds of pubs in European neighbourhoods that people congregate at to watch the games. There has even been news coverage of the number of people calling in “sick” to take the day off so they can watch whatever game they are interested.
Really? Crazy!! Who do you think is going to win? I bet opinions are divided there in Toronto.

Personally, I’m not a huge football fan, but I would love to be in London just to experience the atmosphere!

I don’t like or follow football but unfortunately my boyfriend does. I can’t get away from it. I remember when I was volunteering at home and this girl and I got to talking. I told her that I would be moving to London. She said if you don’t like football you will have to try because they are mental about it there. So true. I still haven’t started liking it though.
Yeah, it’s a bit of a religion here, isn’t it? There are a few other sports to follow as well.
Good comparison, yes it is. True there is a lot, I like tennis so I might try to get to WImbledon this year.
