Picture Wednesday – The Year of the Bus
2014 is the year of the bus in UK, with a number of anniversaries taking place.
- It is 100 years since the battle bus, the first mass-produced motor bus which transported soldiers to the front line during World War I.
- The Routemaster was created 60 years ago.
- The RT-Type bus was launched 75 years ago.
So, there are a number of street sculptures around London to commemorate this year. Just another way to celebrate, although cheaper fares would have been a much better option I think.
Guess where I took the picture below?
Thanks for checking this week’s picture out!

The year of the bus? Well, that is a new one. I know of a blogger who does a series called, “As I sat on the bus”. I will have to tell him about this.
Strange one too! They have tied it up with the events commemorating WW1, and with a new system that does not allow you to buy single bus tickets, but using your contactless card.
Hey! I resemble that remark!
