My Top 10 Music Movies
Having just watched a `rockumentary´ about one of my all-time favourite bands, I am still elated. Beyond elated. I cannot certainly describe what music means to me and the huge satisfaction that it produces when I listen to songs.
It is not always easy nor possible to attend gigs. So, I have usually resorted to watching videos. Movies is another option. Sometimes, the simplest storyline can be sold around the planet using the appropriate soundtrack. Can we think of any? What about that cheesy, modern cinderella story?
Here´s my top 10 music movies and some videos. Be warned – there´s some cheese in this list, but hey. I´m not afraid to say that I have enjoyed their music! Feel free to add or to slash my choices, but please share your reasons for that!
10. Pearl Jam 20, (2011). I could have chosen other `rockumentaries´, like the one about Tom Petty and His Heartbreakers. I thoroughly enjoyed this one too. Such good memories revisited!
9. West Side Story (1961), a modern Romeo and Juliet.
8. Amadeus (1984), a nice surprise.
7. Mary Poppins (1964)
6. This Is Spinal Tap (1984). This is a `mockumentary´about music. Really funny!
5. Singing in the Rain (1952), a true classic.
4. Pretty Woman (1989), wonderful soundtrack.
3. Cabaret (1972), one of my all-time faves.
2. The Blues Brothers (1980) – truly funny and amazing music scores.
1. Grease (1978). What can I say? Party´s on!
